A long time comin'

So it's been a VERY LONG time since I've posted anything here. I finally have a little bit of time and my internet connection is cooperating tonight, so I figured I'd catch up.

In case you haven't heard, we've started a Tuesday Knit-In and for Mardi Gras, Yvette decided to decorate. Don't you just love the purple mask she picked up on her recent trip to New Orleans! The ladies were also treated to homemade King Cake. It was yummy! I got to have some of the leftovers.

At the beginning of the month, we hosted a group of young knitters from a local afterschool program. Yvette designed a cute garter headband for them to knit and they picked out some fun colors and buttons to embellish them.

Now onto some customer show and tell...

I think this is Florene. Aren't these knitted necklaces great?

These are Liz's Socks of Kindness Socks that she knitted during the knit-along in January. So she wouldn't get Second Sock Syndrome, she knit them both at the same time on double points. She would knit so far on one and then catch up the next one to that point. A good plan I think!

I'm sorry but I don't know who this is below. Gotta love the mask though. Actually...it's a little scary, don't you think? But I bet it's warm!

Here's Jane's brimmed hat made with Cascade Eco Duo. I love it. I might have to make one!

This is Kathy L's Honey Cowl made with Ella Rae Superwash. I love the color. You'll see more of Kathy's work below...

Don't you just love Libby's Cabled Hat. She made it out of Lana Grande and left off the band below the cable. Good job Libby!

And, since you never get to see anything that I make, these are my Cloisonee Mittens. And yes, they don't match. I wanted to make one of each style, the stained glass and non-stained glass versions. I've still got the left mittens to make but I've got a few things on the needles to finish first!

I forgot whose Socks of Kindness socks these are. I THINK they are Jan's. Anyway...they are lovely. You all did such a nice job with those socks. Me...not so much!

Here is Teri's Lockspun scarf that she donated to the Altamont Library benefit fundraiser. It was beautiful and so soft. The locks come from her own very spoiled Llamas. You need to check out her Farmlife blog to learn more about her Llamas and other farmy things!

We just fell in love with the hat in this picture. It's in the 60 Quick Baby Knits book. The below three items were knitted by Sue A. They are just too cute for words!

And Stevie's socks in Mets colors. One pair for her and one for her nephew!

Here are Mari's Thrummed Mittens made in a class here at the shop. The roving she used is so pretty and really makes the thrums so nice.

Yvette taught another wet felting class and everyone decided to make a table runner. Here are their finished objects! They were all so excited. They came out so nicely.

Kathy L. is always busy. Here she is in her Daybreak shawl made with one skein of Periwinkle Sheep and one skein of Crazy Zauberball.

And last but not least, Karen's cowl made with Mushishi and a little glitz.

Catching Up!

So, this was a week for catching up...

Our friend Allison came to visit at our last Socks of Kindness knit-along and brought along her new friend, Walter. So, the group of us had a lot of catching up to do. It was so nice to see her!

We had a very nice crowd and most of us were knitting and trying to finish up our socks, some of which can be seen below in show and tell.

But...one of us had to buck the trend and paint! So cool!

And...well...there was also yarn barf (Karin's apropos term). Sally and a few others, here with Allison, spent much of the afternoon trying to untangle a mess of yarn. Unfortunately, after 3 hours of trying to get it rewound...the yarn won! Out came the scissors...

So, now it's my turn to catch up. We've had a lot of customer show and tell in the last few weeks. I left the list at the shop so I just hope I can remember everyone who knit what. If I don't put a name to the project, leave a comment if it's yours!

Annie was busy over the last month or so and knit all these pairs of fingerless mitts. Those grad students are sure spoiled!

This is Janice's Temple Cat Hat. She learned to knit this in a class here at the shop. So cute!

And a very cute baby cardigan. Again, I'm not sure who knit this.

Nancy C's Noro striped scarf. Knit with Noro Silk Garden and Ella Rae Sand Art. It came out so nice!

Karen is below in her second Mobius Cowl of the week. She started it on Saturday and came in the next day with it done!

It took her just a little bit longer to knit the shawl but it was absolutely beautiful. It was worth it, right Karen?!?!?

Shiela made this great hat for a student at Berne-Knox-Westerlo. Their mascot is the Bulldogs. She knit the hat from the 60 More Quick Knits book and then added the spikes! So fun!

Another Sock of Kindness but I just can't remember whose it is.

But...these are Stevie's. She added a strand of mohair on the sole. They are so soft!

Socks of Kindness

Sorry it's been a while since I've posted. We had a very busy holiday season at the shop thanks to all of you and I just haven't had time to post. So...are you knitting along with us on the Socks of Kindness? Look how many are! We had a nice crowd last week for our first day of the KAL. I wonder what today will be like??

I have made no progress on them this week as I cast on another Bandana Cowl. We have yet to exchange Christmas gifts with our friends and I decided that I didn't like the color I made for one of them (I won't say which one in case they read this!) so I am knitting another. It needs to be done by tomorrow so that's what I was working on this week...that an our inventory spreadsheet. I will post some of my FO's and WIP's later this week. I got a new camera so I want to test it out.

Look at everyone knitting away! I was amazed at the different techniques people were using. Toe up, top down, 2 Socks on 1 Circular (the way I'm knitting them BTW...Second Sock Syndrome won't get me this time!), double points, 1 Sock on 2 Circulars...did I forget any? And afterthought heels are planned by some of us (Lisa and Stevie...I decided to try that out!) I can't wait to see all of them completed. No one is using the same colorway either so we should have a great mix of colors.

So...on to customer show and tell...

I have to apologize to Mary Kate...some of her projects below are rotated and I don't know why. They weren't on the camera!

Here is her very pretty in pink Bandana Cowl made out of Malabrigo Worsted. Upside down...oops.

Sandy was busy making the mini stockings for her 10 grandchildren. She knitted most of them on her plan ride over Thanksgiving. Aren't they cute?

Here are Liz's adorable infant mittens she made for her niece and nephew.

And Sally's Baby Surprise Jacket made out of Ella Rae's Amity Print which self stripes the sweater without having to change yarn! She learned how to make the sweater during a class at the shop and she finished it in no time. It's just lovely!

Another one of Mary Kate's projects...sorry, upside down again. Her first pair of the Socks of Kindness and the inspiration for our KAL. The colors are so pretty. You can kind of see the pattern in the picture. They are much nicer in person!

And her Pagewood Farm Handspun Bouquet Hat. These are just so fun!

Annie made these great gauntlets out of a very pretty periwinkle Peace, Love and Yarn. They are just gorgeous!

And Jane T.'s felted baby bonnet. I don't think that any picture could do this justice. She did a beautiful job on the finishing work that just made this hat look spectacular!

I'm sorry but I don't know whose this is. But...isn't it cute? I'm sure that baby will be plenty warm!

Sally's been busy...these are her 2 Bandana Cowls. The one on the left was knitted in the Cascade Eco Cloud and the one of the right is Cascade's Eco Duo. They are both so soft and squishy. Almost makes you want to wish for colder weather so you can wear them..almost!
