Cashmere Socks - the final chapter.

Remember the story about my mom's cashmere socks? The ones I made her for Christmas last year but they didn't fit? (The ones she valiantly tried to make fit, despite the heel being completely underneath her foot.) Well, I ended up with that pair - I had mistakenly thought we had approximately the same size feet - so I benefitted completely from this mistake. I told my mom I would make her a new pair and it took me until recently to finish them. And I was finally able to give them to her last week when she visited.....

That's us with our matching socks. She loves them. And I love mine. They are so incredibly comfortable. (ArtYarns Cashmere Sock yarn -- I'm getting a few colors in soon!)

And look what comes to visit us in our backyard a few times during the summer:

This was the first time we were able to get a picture of it. It's amazing to see it fly in because it has HUGE wings!

Yay! Improvement....

Finally! New carpet for the steps outside...

(Something weird happened with my picture alignment today... I'm going with it since I don't have time to figure it out!)

So, at the knit-in last night, Sue came with her new, 50%-off-at-Macy's, capris:

What? You say these don't look like capris???? Well, Sue tried on a bunch of jeans and these fit the best. She was just tickled that they were supposed to be shorter, but not on her. So, just so you know, the vertically challenged can benefit from the summer clearance for their winter wardrobe!

And it just so happened that Sheila came to the knit-in wearing socks made from this yarn! She says she LOVES it.

And a leaf garland. The mums are very pretty - they appeared in front just the other day. They will be even prettier when they are in full bloom. With the leaf garland and the mums, my sheep doesn't look so lonely. Thinking (again) of knitting her a scarf for winter. I said that last year and never got to it.... [doesn't that picture stand out much better in my new blog format/colors????]

A beautiful fall Saturday....

It was a beautiful fall day on Saturday! The turnout for the Woodstock Knits trunk show was great --- thanks to Heidi for spending the day here. I finished my scarf from the Slouchy Hat and Scarf kit just in time :

And now the set is complete!:

Ok, so the blue head actually helps show of the ivory hat.... love this yarn. Kits will be coming to the shop soon!

Shed progress is coming along nicely. The past week was devoted to the roof. Paul and I don't like heights so you can imagine how this was for us!

But on Monday we finished!

I'm testing out a new blog layout. I thought maybe having a white background for my pictures might make them look better. I like the color and it's fun to mix things up a little.

I posted a picture of one of the new Woodstock Knits kits in a recent post, but wanted to share it with you again to help get you excited for Heidi's visit on Saturday.....

This is the hat from the Slouchy Hat & Scarf kit. I can't tell you how nice this alpaca is to knit with --- and the resulting hat is so comfy! Heidi will have samples and kits, as well as color cards.

The knit-in was last night and there were several people knitting sweaters - a sure sign of the cool weather that is coming. I'm wearing my very comfy top-down cardi made with the Kathmandu Aran this morning since it's a little chilly. Love. it.

This is the project we will have this year for the Charity Knitting class. You'll make this for yourself but the class fee will go to help the families we will adopt for the holidays!

Haven't blocked it yet, but will do that today. I really like how it came out and the yarn (Leche) is wonderful. (I've got to say, the blue head creeps me out a little. I have several of these heads but the others are white. This blue one is a little weird, don't you think?)
